About this Event
Many actors find professional comedy intimidating, but mastering it is about more than just "being funny." Over this six-week acting intensive in Los Angeles, you will move from deep-diving into your personal relationship with humor to mastering the mechanics of joke structure from a writer’s perspective. The curriculum takes you from initial scene analysis and memorization into "The Twist"—a session dedicated to on-the-fly direction and adaptability—before culminating in a final dress rehearsal and a live performance. By combining comedic script analysis with a robust reverence for the craft, you’ll gain the tools to meet every audition with confidence.
The Result: You’ll move beyond the "pressure to be funny" and develop a writer’s eye for joke structure and the actor’s instinct for comedic timing. The course culminates in a Student Showcase, providing the opportunity to perform your polished scene live!
Instructor Spotlight: Madylin Sweeten is an award-winning actress with over 30 years of industry experience. Best known for her work as Ally Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, she continues to use her unique comedic perspective to make strides in Hollywood.
Early Registration ends April 21.
