Lunna Gomes is coming back to DC and will be teaching a 4-week series on Wednesdays with District Zouk!
Wednesdays
7:15-8:30pm Class
8:30-9:00pm Practica
May 15 - June 5
In this immersive 4-week course, we'll embark on a journey through our favorite dimensions of connection. Throughout the classes, we'll find a path to deepen our awareness and communication through two methods:
1. Comfort Cultivation - by nurturing comfort within your own body and in how it relates with your dance partner. Through thoughtful exercises and also researching with specific Zouk steps, we'll expand our technical repertoire while understanding essential details of leading/following in a cozy way.
2. Creative Collaboration - we'll also focus on connection through a dynamic and explorative flow. We'll delve into the art of collaborative expression on the dance floor. Through guided improvisation, you'll refine your ability to communicate, synchronize, and co-create new vocabulary with your partner, also developing the ability of stepping in and out of a fun explorative mode.
Join us as we dive deep into connection, where each step is an invitation to explore, express, and elevate your Zouk experience.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Lunna Gomes began dancing as a child, exploring various styles such as classical dance, jazz, tap dance, urban dances, and contemporary dance. In 2015, she embarked on her journey with partner dancing at Jaime Arôxa School in the city of Goiânia. She specialized in the Zouk style and, upon moving to New York City, she began developing her interdisciplinary research on body awareness and connection within the Zouk style. She has taken professional courses with Jaime Arôxa (Rio de Janeiro), Xandy Liberato (Brasília), Jessica Landon & Ryel (New York). Over the course of six years, she has taught in cities such as New York, Goiânia, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and Belo Horizonte, bringing her unique and sensitive approach to connecting art and life, creating a safe and dynamic environment in her classes. Currently pursuing a master's degree in Performing Arts at the Federal University of Goiás in Brazil, Lunna's research focuses on improvisation and conscious movement, translating dance into a comprehensive partnership that involves versatile vocabulary, body awareness, sensitivity, and creativity.
