This six-week course is designed to encourage your most playful performance body. Discover new approaches to movement, strengthen your physical devising skills and train your instincts to bring forward your most relaxed mind and focused body. This course will use movement exercises and contact improvisation to explore how we move, why we move and what moves us. Working both alone and as a group you will play with how we can respond to a range of stimuli from multiple approaches to connect the dots and find a genuine connection from who you are to what you manifest in the room, celebrating everyone's unique abilities.
The course is designed as a block but you are welcome to attend any of first five the sessions as stand-alone classes, with each session delving deeper on our reflective journey. The final session will be more focused and is reserved for those who have attended all 6 weeks.
This course is suitable for performers of all disciplines, dance, theatre, circus, as well as those who have been taking a break and would like to reignite their inspiration and feel less rusty, those with bags of training who are looking for new challenges (as there is always something to learn from everyone in the room), and those looking for a push to explore something new for the first time. The course is lead by Jo Byron, who founded UTA in 2014
