About this Event
This event is designed for 18-25-year-olds.
Led by Christine, the session will focus on a relatively simple technique called “right-angle bead weaving.” You will learn how to upcycle old beads (either provided or bring in your own) and turn them into small keychains and/or bag charms.
The workshop will begin with a short introduction and upcycling activity, including taking apart old jewellery to reuse materials. You’ll then follow a step-by-step guided demonstration using simple, beginner-friendly patterns inspired by nature in celebration of Earth Day, before having time to experiment with your own designs at the end.
The workshop aims to achieve:
- Explore new and creative ways to work with materials we already have.
- Promote sustainability through upcycling and reuse
- Confidence in learning a new creative skill
- A relaxed, social space for connection
Life for young people aged 18-25 can often feel overwhelming with limited time to actually slow down and engage in creative activities. This workshop offers a chance to step away from that, as we will focus on slower-paced mindful making and self expression, while also encouraging more sustainable ways of thinking about everyday materials.
