Connect Sydney: Anti-oppression and intersectionality

This workshop, facilitated by Hue. Colour the Conversation examines the logics of oppressive systems and how they are rooted in colonialism and racial capitalism, as well as

the ways intersectionality relates to these systems of power.

Participants reflect on their own positionality within these structures and apply a critical lens to understanding intersectionality, including its limitations in advancing collective liberation. The session fosters critical thinking, self-reflection, and strategies for engaging with systems of oppression in more equitable and conscious ways.

The workshop uses a mix of group work,facilitated discussion and personal reflection to achieve objectives. The sessions are co-facilitated by facilitators who are women, transgender, gender diverse and/or people of colour and experts in their lived experiences.

Limit of two people per organisation.

This workshop is part of the City of Sydney's Connect Sydney program. The program aims to build the capacity of community and not-for-profit organisations through the provision of free skills and governance training for organisations that support and provide services to children, young people, families and communities experiencing or at risk of vulnerability within the City of Sydney local government area.
