Confronting Discrimination Together

This event will bring together leaders, advocates, Elders, and community members from Indigenous communities, 2SLGBTQI+ communities, people with disabilities, newcomers, and racialized communities. While March 21 centres racial discrimination, we recognize that racism intersects with colonialism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and other systems of exclusion. Meaningful change requires us to stand together.The three-hour gathering will include:

• An opening from Elder Doreen Spence
• A keynote address on solidarity and shared action from Gabriel Chen (Manager Calgary Legal Guidance)
• Short talks from representatives across communities
• Facilitated breakout discussions focused on strategies that have worked
• A collective call to action

This event is designed not only to reflect, but to build practical connections and strengthen collaboration across communities facing discrimination.
