About this Event
Hosted by Civic Works and presented by Francis Gorman, join us for a talk about the “Lost Cause” culture in the South that was first described by a Richmond newspaper editor and author in the years immediately after the Civil War. It became pervasive in the South for nearly a century. The Lost Cause attitude was mirrored in the North in the eugenics taught by pseudo-intellectuals, and in custom and practice. The killing of George Floyd in March 2020 sparked a national reckoning on the white supremacy inherent in the Lost Cause.
Francis J. “Frank” Gorman practiced law as a trial and intellectual property attorney, and is currently Of Counsel with Gorman and Williams, Attorneys at Law. Frank is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and Law Center, earning his juris doctorate in 1969. He has written extensively, both in practice and as a favored pastime on topics of law and history.
Mr. Gorman will have available for his book, , on site available for purchase.
