ONE-TWO-ONE CAFE Presents: “CONCRETE AND SUNFLOWERS” An Art Exhibition with art-works by Helene Ruiz “Concrete & Sunflowers explores the city that shaped me and the symbols of hope I carry through my work. Some pieces focus on the grit, rhythm, and movement of urban life. Others highlight the resilience and light of sunflowers. By exhibiting the two in one show, it reflects how hope and endurance coexist even in the most chaotic spaces.” Helene Ruiz Concrete & Sunflowers Opens on Friday May 8th, 2026 From 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM One-Two-One Cafe 121 Ralph Avenue Brooklyn NY 11221 https://www.onetwoonecafe.com/ Live Poetry on May 8th / opening night only with poetry by; Monica Hill, WIlliam (Wah Wah) Washington, Robert Gibbons, Ginger Laforestrie, Jackie Gathers, Zenaida Herrada, Jenny Cadenillas and Helene Ruiz. Through a series of her paintings, Ruiz juxtaposes the grit, energy, and rhythm of New York City with her signature sunflowers; symbols of resilience, light, and growth. Some works focus solely on the urban landscape, others highlight the floral symbolism of hope, while others may combine both, creating a dialogue between chaos and beauty. Ruiz reflects on the complex, yet inspiring, nature of the city she calls home. Concrete & Sunflowers invites viewers to experience how resilience and light emerge even amidst the concrete of city life whether literally or imaginatively. Closing reception with Artist Q&A will be held on Friday June 5th, 2026 7-10 P
