Concord residents with curbside trash collection can begin placing leaves at the curb starting Monday, April 20, for the return of the City of Concord’s Spring Leaf Collection.
All leaves must be in biodegradable yard waste bags or rigid containers labeled for leaves. In the spring, leaves must be bagged or contained for easy pick-up with trash collection. Do not rake leaves loosely to the curb. Bulk leaf collection only occurs in the fall.
New this year, residents are instructed to place leaves curbside by 7:00 a.m. each Monday, similar to the bagged leaf collection program in the fall. Traditionally, leaf collection in the spring coincided with a resident’s trash collection day. This change is being implemented to better align consistency between both seasonal programs to minimize confusion and to allow for leaves to be collected at any time during each week, providing more opportunity for flexible collection either ahead or behind a resident’s trash collection day, depending on the volume of leaves at the curb.
Unacceptable materials will not be collected, including branches, brush, and plastic bags.
Leaf collection will continue for six weeks through Saturday, May 30. The last collection week will be delayed by one day, with no trash or leaf collection on Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday.
Residents can also bring leaves to the Fort Eddy Road Reprocessing Center, operated by Raymond’s Landscaping LLC, once they open for the season on April 20. Drop-off is free with proof of residency for loads smaller than a non-commercial pick-up truck. Residents are required to empty contents at the facility to confirm that loads are 100% free of any unacceptable materials. Bags are not required for drop-off. Any containers used for transporting leaves to the recycling center must be returned with the resident.
The Fort Eddy Road Reprocessing Center will be open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and closed daily from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for lunch. Saturday hours will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. starting April 25 through May 30. Additional Saturday dates may be added later in the season. Hours are weather-dependent and are subject to change. Call the recycling center to confirm available drop-off times at (603) 496-2392 and check Raymond’s Landscaping’s Facebook page for changes.
