About this Event
On 10 December 2025, the acclaimed Concerto Budapest returns to London with an extraordinary chamber concert, supported by the Petőfi Cultural Programme. Hosted at the Liszt Institute London, this special evening also serves as the Liszt Institute Annual Advent Concert.
The programme highlights the richness of Central European classical tradition, featuring Mozart’s powerful Adagio and Fugue in C minor and the elegant Flute Quartet in D major. These frame a selection of works by György Kurtág – the orchestra’s honorary president and one of the most influential contemporary composers – including pieces from Signs, Games and Messages, 12 Microludes and Officium breve. The concert also showcases Béla Bartók’s vivid Duos and the virtuosic, characterful Contrasts.
Performers: András Keller – violin, Zsófia Környei – violin, Orsolya Kaczander – flute, Csaba Klenyán, – clarinet Janka Mekis, – viola Ákos Takács, – cello Mihály Berecz – piano
With a history spanning over a century, Concerto Budapest is one of Hungary’s leading orchestras, renowned for its distinctive sound, innovative programming and emotionally charged performances. Since 2007, the ensemble has been led by its Music Director András Keller, internationally celebrated violinist and founder of the Keller Quartet. Under his artistic vision, the orchestra continues to carry forward the finest traditions of Hungarian chamber music—from Bartók and Weiner to Végh, Rados and Kurtág.
This December concert promises an intimate yet powerful musical experience and an opportunity to discover the depth of Hungarian musical heritage and celebrate the Advent season with exceptional chamber music.
The concert is organised by the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre London and Concerto Budapest, within the framework of Petőfi Cultural Program, supported by the Government of Hungary.
