About this Event
Preston Field Audio
Preston Field Audio is an audio project led by Carl Brown. A city-wide collaboration creating ears-to-the-ground portraits of a Northern town. Starting initially in 2014 capturing transient moments of community and quietude through field recordings and site specific compositions - blending street and studio, presence and abscence. 2017 saw the launch their own in-house label Set Foot Press.
A 2019 collaboration with Plymouth artist Keith Harrison titled ‘Conductor’ received international press from The Quietus, The Modernist and Tiny Mix Tapes with support from Late Junction and 6 Music for its ambitious concept and execution involving 32 double decker buses driven by skilled drivers performing choreographed movements from the bus bays accompanied by a soundtrack by Preston Field Audio.
More recently PFA was commissioned by Keith Harrison and English Heritage to score an installation currently on show at Witley Court titled Fountain 1937 ‘exploring the complex historical relationships between the great ruined country mansion, and the lives of the working-class people of Staffordshire who created the wealth on which it was all founded.’
