In remembrance of Maestro Robert Franz (1968-2025), the Healing through Music and Dance (HTMD) Program of the North Star Community Foundation (NSCF) and alumni of the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival (FSAF) will perform a Robert Franz Tribute Concert on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 7:30pm at the UAF Charles Davis Concert Hall in Fairbanks, Alaska.Robert’s commitment to bringing the music to the people is the inspiration for this HTMD program. Terese Kaptur, current HTMD Program Director and former FSAF Director, brought Robert to Alaska to lead the FSAF orchestra program. He turned the struggling program around. He mended fences with local musicians. He developed the string intensive and, collaboratively, the opera intensive. He partnered with the Composing in the Wilderness program and all the outreach programs. Robert allowed the opportunity for young string players and singers to perform their first time with an orchestra.
The tribute will feature HTMD Harmonica Man Mike Stevens and other musicians who wish to honor Robert. Further details will be posted on our website as they become available. If you are interested in participating please contact Terese Kaptur at [email protected]
