About this Event
Ellis Piper is a self-proclaimed “indie-folksy songsmith” with an ever-evolving style that currently sits somewhere around “yeehaw jazz-pop”. Ellis makes music that feels both fresh and familiar: warm, melodic songs that settle in softly and make you feel right at home. Ellis has been active as a songwriter since high school, and currently has three self-written, -recorded, and -produced albums out in the world — the most recent being Lovebird, which arrived February 14, 2026.
Lovebird is an anthology of songs about romance; it’s a careful collection that’s been written, rewritten, and gently shaped (read: beaten into submission) over the last several years. Silly around the edges and honest at its core, Lovebird leaves you feeling like a scoop of ice cream drifting in a glass of strawberry soda.
Live at NYC’s Center for Theatre Research, Ellis is joined by dear friends and collaborators Copeland James, Simon Wesley, and duo we just met. It’s sort of a concert, sort of a listening party, but mostly just a laid-back night of good songs and good company. Bring a friend, a special someone, or just your beautiful self: any way you slice it, Ellis promises you’ll have a good time.
