CONCERT CHOIR
is one of the six ensembles at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This choir is auditioned and is comprised of all majors throughout the university community. Concert Choir presents two main season concerts and one Midwest tour each year.
Throughout its history, Concert Choir has worked with many outstanding orchestras including the Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, The San Diego Symphony Orchestra, as well as, The Philadelphia Brass. Concert Choir performs major works in union with the UW-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir and Symphony Orchestra annually. Recent works include Ein deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms; Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn; Mass in C and Choral Fantasia by Ludwig van Beethoven; Carmina Burana by Carl Orff; and Mass in B Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. Concert Choir has collaborated with many prominent composers and conductors including Jackson Berkey, Jerry Blackstone, Robert DeCormier, Eph Ehly, James Fritschel, Dale Grotenhuis, Moses Hogan, Gian Carlo Menotti, Weston Noble, John Rutter, James Mulholland, Z. Randall Stroope, Ola Gjeilo, Dan Forrest, Timothy Takach, Karen Kennedy, Andrea Ramsey, and Stacey V. Gibbs. In 2025, UWEC is pleased to host conductor Dr. Paul Head as our artist-in-residence.
WOMEN'S CONCERT CHORALE
specializes in the study and performance of repertoire written specifically for women’s voices. The ensemble has a rich tradition of excellence and is comprised of students from various academic disciplines. In addition to regular concerts, the ensemble tours annually, and is one of the featured ensembles at UW-Eau Claire’s Viennese Ball. Women’s Concert Chorale has performed at several music conventions including the Wisconsin Music Educators Association Fall Conference (October 2002), the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association Convention (January 2007), and the American Choral Directors Association North Central Division Convention (March 2008). Recent international tours include The People’s Republic of China (2005), South Africa (2009) and Northern Ireland (2014). In 2018, the ensemble will tour Central Europe.
In addition to excellence in performance, Women’s Concert Chorale prides itself on the strong bonds of friendship and sisterhood, which they foster through their study and performance of meaningful repertoire.
