Beginner Friendly & Free computer classes These will be offered throughout 2026 in our Main Library Computer Lab, located on Lower Level 2.
Please register via the library website online event calendar or by calling (309) 497-2000 so we have enough computers and materials for everyone.
This introductory workshop is designed for adults who are new to computers or need a refresher on the basics. In just one hour, participants learn how to comfortably use a mouse and keyboard, navigate the desktop, open and close programs, and understand simple file management such as saving and finding documents.
The class also covers basic internet use, how to open a browser, perform safe searches, and recognize trustworthy websites, as well as an overview of how email works. Instruction is hands-on, friendly, and paced for true beginners, with plenty of time for questions.
