About this Event
Ireland's first ever Computer Science Week National Conference is aimed at anyone curious to find out more about the fantastic world of computer science, the opportunities it offers and the supports available to schools and teachers. The conference is suitable for school leaders, teachers, guidance counsellors, parents, representatives from industry and all education stakeholders.
The conference will be launched by Minister for Education Norma Foley TD and the keynote address at the Conference will be delivered by Lorraine Underwood, maker, author and senior teaching associate at Lancaster University. Lorraine’s passion is making physical computing creations to showcase how creative Computer Science can be.
Featuring "Creative Initiatives" a showcase of student innovations and industry supports from companies such as Amazon, Cisco, Ericsson, Google, IBM, Microsoft plus more, the conference will offer students an oppportunity to participate in workshops delivered by subject experts and learn more about higher/further education and training options and the range of careers available.
The conference will also see the launch of:
- A new dedicated website for Computer Science for students, parents, schools and buddies
- A new Buddy System, connecting teachers and schools with 'buddies' from industry, from other schools and higher and further education. This on online system will connect teachers and schools with industry ‘buddies’ who will offer a range of supports for teachers and schools to avail of.
The conference keynote address will be delivered by Lorraine Underwood.
