Backups, Maintenance, and Data RecoveryOur computing devices—smartphones, tablets, and personal computers—are marvelous machines that provide tools for creativity, productivity, education, and entertainment. But they are still machines. Machines—even those with few (or no) moving parts—require maintenance in order to keep functioning effectively. In this case, that mostly means software maintenance. Things like: implementing a backup plan and making sure it’s doing its job, keeping application and system software up to date, and knowing how to recover from a malfunction—whether it’s a hardware failure, a software bug, malware, or human error.
This month, we’ll discuss some best practices for these vital aspects of personal computing to help you build a maintenance plan for your machines that fit your circumstances. Beyond the digital, we’ll share some tips to keep your equipment in tip-top physical shape for longer life and better trade-in value.
