Unlock the Power of Visual Storytelling: Essential Composition Techniques for Every Photographer
About this Event

The key to great photography is telling visual stories through good composition. This class is for all photographers, no matter their experience, skill, or style, who want to create more compelling stories through their photography. This non-technical class is relevant and important to anyone with a camera.

What you’ll learn

  • How we see vs what our camera’s can capture
  • Essential elements that our brains rely upon in visual story telling
  • Color fundamentals that will bring more “pop” to your images
  • Techniques you can use to create more compelling photos
  • Traditional artistic concepts that apply to photography

The class begins by explaining the various visual elements that photographers can use, and how they impact your image. Building on the core concepts, you’ll learn how to identify and use a variety of techniques to make stronger statements and more engaging images. The final section of the class walks you through various scenarios to show you how to identify great subjects, work the scene, and create captivating compositions. Included in the class is a multi-page color handout with important concepts from the class including example images.

Whether you are a new photographer needing a no-nonsense, to-the-point class on composition, or a more experienced hand looking for new inspiration, Composition Essentials will provide you with what you are looking for. John Greengo is an expert in organizing, distilling, and explaining the various compositional concepts that will make you better at capturing your visual point of view. The concepts in this class are essential for all photographers wanting to take their photography to the next level.
