# of teams per tournament will be decided based on interest.
Balls up @ 11AM, please arrive for check-in no later than 10:45am.
No substitutions allowed during bracket play unless an injury occurs.
Pool play games to 21 straight, minimum 4 pool play games.
Each tournament will have one bracket only, there will be no split into upper and lower.
Tournament format will vary based on time constraints.
Comp tourney: I will do my best to seed teams based on past results so that groups are even. Seeding will be determined based on your group play (i.e. winning your group grants you a higher seed).
Rec tourney: Win/loss and point differential determines seed, weighted to win/loss record first.
Must have teams/TBD in by Wednesday, 4/1 or you'll be dropped to the waitlist.
Men must serve men, women can serve anywhere.
Otherwise, FIVB Rules including:
• Directional blocking is allowed.
• Blocks count as a touch
• Open-hand receives are allowed if they are received and released without error (unless it’s a hard-driven attack - no upward trajectory, at pace).
• A player commits a fault and a point is awarded to the other team if they complete an attack-hit using an overhand pass (set) which has a trajectory not perpendicular to the line of the shoulders. The exception is when the player is attempting to set to his or her teammate.
• No lifting, carrying, or open-hand tips.
• No foot faults.
• No touching the net.
• Players can cross into the other team's space if it doesn’t impede play.
Comp prizes: 1st/2nd = Cash
Rec prizes: 1st/2nd = T-Shirts/Gift Cards and Gift Cards, respectively.
