Help us plant and manage our new woodlands and trees, meet new friends, and take action for nature. This tree planting event will manage the woodland edges, replacing and planting trees to help our new woodlands thrive.
Date: Sunday 26th January
Time(s):
-Session 1: 10:00 - 12:30
-Session 2: 12:45 - 15:30
Meeting point: Walker Fold car park, Walker Fold Rd, Horwich, Bolton BL6 6PR
Accessibility: We will be taking minibuses from the starting point up to the mast rd, and the tree planting a short walk from the mini bus drop off. It will be on an exposed area to wind and elements with boggy and muddy conditions under foot.
What to bring:
-Please wear suitable warm, waterproof clothing and footwear for a muddy event outdoors.
-All Instructions and equipment provided but bring a spade if you have one.
-Under 18's welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Smithills Estate is a Woodland Trust site in Bolton, Greater Manchester, steeped in history, wildlife and shares panoramic views over Bolton, Greater Manchester and beyond.

The site is one of the largest in England covering 685 hectares and includes a mosiac of habitats criss corossed by dry stone walls, including grassland, farmland, moorland, woodland, wooded cloughs (ravines) and bog habitats. The site features several active farms and a myriad of interesting walking routes, and home to a wide array of wildlife. Many aspects of Smithills Estate are being restored and revitalised, including130,000 trees have been planted on the Smithills Estate so far making this a wonderful place to visit as its transformation comes underway.
