About this Event
Our Community Still Life Drawing nights offer folks a chance to connect with others while making art. Each session features a still life arrangement to focus on, and you will be guided through brief warm up sketches before settling into a sustained drawing. We will share our amazing work with each other at the end. All skill levels welcome!
NOTE: this is the last session in this series. We will celebrate together with a “potluck”-style still life - you are invited to bring a small snack to draw and share with the group.
What you'll need to bring:
3-4 sheets of paper or a sketchbook
Drawing materials: pencil crayons, markers, pastels, watercolours, charcoal, etc.
Please dress for the weather as we will be outside. If it rains, we will move to a nearby indoor location.
Venue: The Milky Way Garden is located at 87 Milky Way Lane, which is the alley directly behind the Parkdale Branch Library (1303 Queen St West, at Brock St). If driving, enter the Milky Way Lane from Cowan Ave.
Community Still Life takes place in-person each month, and is hosted by the Parkdale Free School, a volunteer-run initiative based out of the Parkdale neighbourhood in Toronto.
About the facilitator:Sarah (she/her) is a maker whose work draws from the patterns, interactions and routines of the everyday. She has a background in painting and drawing, and works with gouache, watercolour and textiles. Sarah is a skilled arts facilitator; she has taught with East End Arts, hosts virtual and in-person drawing sessions with the Parkdale Free School, and leads a series of art workshops with Northern Contemporary Gallery. She hopes these community drawing sessions offer folks a small break, to connect with their creative spirit, to regain focus, and to build community.
