About this Event
Autumn is a busy season for planting and ACT Parks are putting in canopy trees along sections Murrumbidgee River to improve canopy connectivity. This, in time, will shade out weeds like blackberry along the riverbank and provide shade for the river which will cool the water and improve water quality. Native trees will also drop branches and leaves into the river that provide habitat for fish, platypus, rakali and waterbugs.
All are welcome to attend; there is no age limits or experience necessary. ACT Rangers will be on site to give a briefing before we commence and will explain how this project fits into their broader work caring for the Murrumbidgee River in the ACT.
This event is a part of the Restoring the Upper Murrumbidgee River Program.
