Paekawakawa Reserve is community-owned and driven, and we we love helping hands!
Our autumn-winter working bees are about planting trees, a little weeding, and chatting with lovely people. No experience needed, cup of tea provided.
Volunteers meet just before 1pm at the Derwent St entrance, or if coming later just come find us, the Reserve is pretty small!
Sometimes we are planting in the flat valley, or sometimes we are planting on steep hillsides which can be tricky to get to, so if you are bringing little kids or have mobility issues, feel free to message us ahead of time to find out if it's the right day for you to come.
More than 20 years ago, Island Bay locals fundraised to buy the the Reserve, and it's been run on volunteer love ever since. Come and be a part of it!
