About this Event
Did you know that there is a publicly accessible and maintained fruit tree orchard in the heart of Olneyville? First planted in the summer of 2025 by the Pearl Street Garden Collective, the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program, and neighbors, this space was the answer to the neighborhood's call for more fruit trees. However, this space will only fluorish if we take care of it! Let's come together for a day of learning, labor (of love), and maybe even harvesting some fresh fruit. We'll hear about how this space came to be, assess the health of the plants that were installed last year and give them any support they need, and add some new fruit trees and flowers to the understory to help truly bring this space to life. After we finish, we'll take a walk down to Riverside park to forage some serviceberries, which should be just ripe enough to enjoy, if not a bit tart.
This is a family-friendly activity and all programming will be offered in English and Spanish. All tools will be provided, but please wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty and register below to get more information!

This event is part of the Nuestros Bosques Event Series, a program focused on forest stewardship, outdoor learning, and community engagement in Providence. Participants explore local woodlands, care for neighborhood trees and understory plants, and connect with the natural environment together.
Join us for Nuestros Bosques Forest Care Days, a series of community volunteer days dedicated to caring for neighborhood trees and green spaces in Providence.
Throughout the season, we’ll travel to different sites across 02909 and 02908 to support the health of our growing urban forest. These gatherings bring neighbors together to care for the trees that shade our streets, cool our neighborhoods, and make our communities stronger.
Volunteer tasks will vary by location and need. Together we may remove invasive plants, pick up litter, water young trees, spread mulch, and help maintain the spaces where our trees grow. These days are also designed to be family-friendly, with activities for kids and opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Nuestros Bosques Forest Care Days are about more than just tree care—they’re about building community. Sometimes we’re working hard, and sometimes we’re just vibing: giving back, sharing food, and celebrating with neighbors.
Events are free, bilingual (Spanish and English), and open to everyone. Food will be available, and all tools and supplies will be provided.
Please dress for outdoor work, including comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and sun protection. Bring water and anything else you need to stay comfortable.
