Community Meeting: Saving the Living Wage in Government Contracts

The government announced on Wednesday last week that it was scrapping the Living Wage as a requirement for all government contracts in cleaning, security, and catering.
This means that thousands of workers across Aotearoa will no longer be guaranteed the Living Wage.
The event brings together community, union, and faith groups to call on the government to keep the requirement and to ask New Zealand First to maintain their commitment to the movement, which they made at our 2023 Election Forum.
We will also be supporting people to submit against the changes to the guidelines by participating in MBIE's procurement consultation.
