About this Event

Join us for a Community Forest Festival! This event will bring tree lovers from across Hawaiʻi to engage with community forests. An interactive musical collaboration between Kaulunani Artists in Residence will headline this event. Bring your picnic lunch, and your family and friends, to appreciate all our community forests provide and activate care for our collective well-being.

E ulu lāʻau, hānai kaiāulu - Grow trees, sustain community.

Recognize tree heroes with Community Forest Kuleana awards! ( through 10/31/2025)

The Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program of the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources, Divison of Forestry and Wildlife and many partners are teaming up to host this event and celebrate a successful 2025 Year of Our Community Forests campaign. Opportunities include (while supplies last!):

  • Engage with artists demonstrating their work with tree materials (lei making, woodworking, lauhala & niu weaving).
  • Groove along with live musical performances led by Kaulunani’s Artist-in-Residence Takuma Itoh, using repurposed urban wood and tree materials.
  • Sample tasty bites of mea ʻai sourced from community agroforests.
  • Watch demonstrations on tree care and enjoy the diverse flora of Foster Botanical Garden
  • For kids: Keiki corner - activities for the little ones like storytime and games.

Waived admission spots are limited! Pre-register here under "General Admission" for free admission to Foster Botanical Garden and this event.
