Join us for Community Fishing Night and Chat with a Biologist on Saturday, Aug. 8 at Iron Horse Lake in North Platte!Hosted by Nebraska Game and Parks, community fishing events are held at venues across the state each spring and summer.
Select events will feature our new “Chat with a Fisheries Biologist” nights. These events give attendees a chance to visit directly with a Nebraska Game and Parks fisheries biologist about local lakes and ponds, fish species, stocking efforts, habitat work, and how fisheries are managed across the state. Whether you have questions about where to fish, what species are in a waterbody, or how management decisions are made, this is a great opportunity to learn more and have your questions answered by a fisheries professional.
Look for the Family Fishing Trailer, where loaner rods and reels, bait and fishing instruction are available free to participants. Fishing Instructors are also available to provide helpful tips and answer questions. This is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages who have never been fishing or haven’t fished for years to learn.
All participants ages 16 and older need a fishing license. A valid state park entry permit is also required for events at state park areas. Visit gooutdoorsne.com for permits.
