Community Film Screening - The Cost of Growth
Join us for a community film screening of The Cost of Growth, a documentary by filmakers and climate activists Anuna De Wever and Lena Hartog. The film challenges Europe’s growth story by exposing the extractive systems it relies on and the communities that pay the price.
The film runs for 93 minutes and will be followed by informal discussion on the themes and topics explored.
About the film:
The Cost of Growth explores how endless economic growth and extractivism lead to wealth inequality and environmental damage. The film documents grassroots resistance to extractivism through Italy, Serbia, and Sápmi, connecting these local struggles with broader debates on war, justice, and democracy. By highlighting voices from affected communities and leading thinkers such as Fati N'Zi-Hassane, Vijay Prashad, Greta Thunberg and Jason Hickel, The Cost of Growth explores how communities resist extraction, build solidarities, and expose the violence behind Europe’s economy.
Entry tickets required but free of charge. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Hope to see you there!
