About this Event
What if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away?
Join us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass, make new connections, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. Hosted at The Hague Humanity Hub, this is the place for you to get away from your busy schedule and enjoy after-hours with purposeful conversations.
What can you expect?
Come to the Hub on Thrusday, March 19th, between 17:00 and 19:00, for a drink (or two) and meet professionals using storytelling to advocate for, and drive, positive change.
In a city like The Hague, where dialogue, justice, and diplomacy shape the global stage, visual advocacy and storytelling offer a powerful way to humanize complex issues. Images, maps, data visualizations, and narrative design can make institutional processes more approachable, bringing clarity to subjects that might otherwise feel abstract or distant. Visual storytelling cuts across language and cultural barriers, inviting broader participation and fostering empathy in a place where diverse voices meet.
When used thoughtfully, visual advocacy not only communicates information but also amplifies impact. In The Hague’s ecosystem compelling visuals can illuminate the lived experiences behind legal arguments, highlight patterns that inform policy decisions, and energize public engagement. By blending art, narrative, and evidence, visual storytelling helps bridge the gap between global challenges and the people working to address them.
The March Edition of the Community Drinks will explore some of the following questions:
- In what ways can visuals help bridge the gap between policy discussions and lived human experiences?
- How do we represent people and their stories ethically, especially when dealing with sensitive topics like conflict, justice, or human rights?
- How can visuals avoid oversimplifying or sensationalizing complex issues?
- What role can creative storytelling play in sustaining open, democratic societies?
Who are the speakers?
- Gregg The Artivist
