Glensheen invites you our annual Community Day event featuring FREE self-guided Classic Christmas Tours of the mansion on January 5, 2024. We are extremely grateful to the Duluth community for their continued support of our historic estate each year, and this day of free tours is our way of giving back to our community for that support. Self-guided Classic Christmas tours will be offered from 10 AM - 4 PM on Community Day and reservations are not available or required. Classic Tours will be the only tour offered on this day and Glensheen will not be offering Full Mansion tours on Sunday, January 5. All guests arriving by 4 PM will receive a free Classic Tour. When arriving, guests will be welcomed at the Ticket House and proceed to the Carriage House and Mansion for their self-guided tours. An art activity will be led in the Winter Garden by UMD Art Education faculty. This activity will provide a keepsake for guests to remember their day at Glensheen!
January 5 will be the final day that Glensheen is decked out for Christmas this season. This is the last chance to see the mansion decorated for the season in this year’s decorating theme, Classic Christmas Tales at Glensheen, allowing guests to experience timeless Christmas tales brought to life through beautifully decorated rooms. Guests can reminisce about their own Christmas experiences and traditions as they explore 12 themed rooms focused on classic Christmas books and stories. With 25 trees, Congdon family ornaments and artifacts, historic photos, and Congdon family stories, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the rich history and festive ambiance and see how Glensheen was made a home. Keep everyone on the lookout for 25 naughty elves that like to cause mischief in the mansion.
