About the programme
A new UK engagement programme is being developed to introduce an innovative initiative led by Japanese innovation companies. The programme introduces practical implementations of community currency and presents a new theory called vector money, which encompasses community currency within its broader framework.
Community currency will be presented through real-world applications and operational experience. Vector money provides a wider perspective for understanding how value, exchange, and participation can be structured across multiple dimensions.
Together, these perspectives explore how these approaches can support local economies, community participation, social value creation, and new forms of trusted exchange between citizens, businesses, public bodies, and local projects.

Why this matters now
Community currency is not simply a payment mechanism. It is a practical tool for strengthening local ecosystems by encouraging local spending, supporting community-led projects, enabling new forms of participation, and building trust between individuals, businesses, and institutions. In parallel, vector money is introduced as a concept for thinking about how value and exchange can be structured in more flexible ways.
As digital finance, local development, and social impact continue to evolve, these approaches offer new ways to think about how value can be created and shared within communities.

- In-person workshop - 23 October 2026, Cambridge: brings together selected UK organisations interested in future collaboration, implementation and delivery models.

Interested UK companies and organisations are invited to register for the July webinar and to apply for participation in the Cambridge workshop. Applications will be reviewed by the organising team, and selected attendees will be confirmed in advance.
