About this Event
Ever since the pandemic, small and large businesses have been leaving downtown Oakland – 1 in 4 storefronts between 14th and 17th Street are empty, with no plans for them to be filled. Their departure has left the streets much less active than they were before, and has also left our neighborhood without many basic needs (fresh produce, hardware, late night spots, etc).
So, let's think: What kind of services and spaces do we want to see downtown? And what can we experiment with in the next few months to make our streets more livable? Together with the people who live in and care about downtown, we'll talk about these questions and more.
Dinner will be provided. Please email us at if you have any dietary restrictions.
LETS Studio is an organization that creates opportunities for neighbors to shape the city they live in – and build community power in the process. We are gracious to 1528 Webster for providing the space for our community to gather, and to Oakland Lowdown (a community news and arts hub) for supporting our organizing work.
(See below for map of vacant storefronts in the area.)
