About this Event
Join us for a Community Arts Gathering at the Weeksville Heritage Center ! π¨π
This gathering holds time and space for young artists to meet, learn and tell powerful stories through works of art. Part of the , which is a free, fully virtual, 3-month series for artists ages 12 β 17 who are serious about their craft, this after-school event includes a Meet and Greet, with healthy refreshments prepared locally by a Brooklyn based cafe, a Mini Tour and a Cultural Art Workshop. Artists will have an opportunity to consider historical facts then experiment with words, images and materials to create works that share who they are, where they're from and what they feel is important for their community to consider.
After the event, students will have access to live sessions via zoom and self-paced e-Course to support their creative work. We will be celebrating our Brooklyn youth made up of 20 artists collaborating to craft a collective story that shares their perspective of community and culture through their works of art.
