Common Ground: Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Most of us don't pay all that much attention to the ground beneath our feet. But, soil health is quite literally a matter of life-or-death, with some scientists predicting there's only 60 years of harvests left before the world's topsoils are fully depleted. 😯
There's already a global movement underway to reverse course and elevate regenerative agriculture as a necessary, practical solution to the intersecting crises of food security, climate change, and inequality. Corporations and governments are increasingly on-board, but to be successful, regenerative agriculture must continue to center the wisdom and leadership of indigenous peoples, small, local growers, and everyday consumers who care about clean water and a nutritious, non-toxic food supply. 🌎
Ready to plug-in at the local level? This film screening and panel discussion will feature local farmers, ranchers, and advocates in conversation with attendees about the challenges and opportunities to advance soil health in the Pikes Peak region. 🤝
Panelists include: Patience Kabwasa, Food to Power, C.W. Mallery, Freedom Acres Ranch, Perdita Butler, Quarter Acre and a Mule, Mike Callicrate, Callicrate Beef, Susan Gordon, New Roots Farm, and Shane Nelson, Food to Power.

Common Ground is the highly anticipated sequel to Kiss the Ground, the 2020 documentary that brought these issues into the mainstream. "By fusing journalistic expose’ with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement, Common Ground unveils a dark web of money, power, and politics behind our broken food system. The film reveals how unjust practices forged our current farm system which farmers of all colors are literally dying to feed us. The film profiles a hopeful uplifting movement of white, black, and indigenous farmers who are using alternative regenerative models of agriculture that could balance the climate, save our health, and stabilize America’s economy – before it’s too late."
