About this Event
Join us on Wednesday 13th August from 4:00–5:00pm for an in-depth artist talk between Jamie Holman and curator Hope Gallegos, presented as part of Common Ground’s pop-up exhibition events.
This conversation offers a unique opportunity for Holman to explore his work in greater depth—discussing his engagement with industrial heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and the cultural parallels between working-class and middle class communities on both sides of the Atlantic.
Framed as a dialogue with curator Hope Gallegos, the talk will also open space for personal reflection. Both Holman and Gallegos grew up as military children—Jamie in England, Hope in the United States. Though shaped by different cultural landscapes, their shared background reveals striking commonalities: themes of movement, memory, identity, and belonging.
Together, they will unpack how these lived experiences have informed their practices and perspectives, offering an intimate look into the making and meaning behind Common Ground.
This event provides a powerful conclusion to the pop-up exhibition events of community programming—centering shared stories, transatlantic heritage, and the enduring bonds that shape us.
