Common Ground is an initiative of the Wangaratta Area Suicide Prevention (W.A.S.P) group, created to connect people touched by suicide, offering a space to share experiences and find mutual understanding with others who have walked a similar path.
WASP members, each with their own lived experiences, will always be in attendance; however, this is very much an informal space created to facilitate connection, reduce stigma, share experiences, provide mutual support and build a sense of community, rather than providing a structured, clinical support group.
Common Ground is open to everyone and is free to attend. No registration is required—you’re welcome to simply come along on the night. You can arrive at any time during the hour and stay for as long or as little as you feel comfortable.
Common Ground will never take away the intense grief and incredible pain associated with the loss of a loved one who has died by suicide, but connections with others, who have shared understandings of such unique and complex feelings can be a powerful step toward healing.
Common Ground runs between 5pm-6pm at Pedal Slowly, 1 Victoria Lane Wangaratta on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
Please know that Pedal Slowly is not open to the public on this day and only those attending Common Ground will be in the building. The bar will be open and non-alcoholic drinks are also available.
