Coming Home to the Body: An Intro to Somatic Awareness
led by certified practioner Blessing Uchendu
Sunday, January 25
3PM - 4.30PM

Our ancestors knew something modern life has trained us to forget: the body holds knowledge the mind can’t access alone.

Somatics is the practice of reconnecting with that knowing.
In this experiential workshop, we’ll move beyond the buzzword and explore what it actually feels like to come home to your body.

Through gentle guided practices, reflection, and community discussion, participants will learn how to notice sensations, emotions, and internal signals-the language of the body.

Space will also be given to explore how disconnection from the body is shaped by culture, capitalism, and survival.

Facilitator's Bio:
Blessing Uchendu, MSW, LCSW (she/her) is a Nigerian-American healer, trauma therapist, and speaker with 17+ years of experience. She is the founder of Freshwater Counseling & Consulting, a NYC-based therapy and consulting practice centering the healing of BIPOC people through body-centered therapy and consulting. As a Level 1 IFS trained, EMDR certified therapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Blessing’s specialty is in helping people “clear out the noise” in order to connect with and be guided by their most authentic selves. Her philosophy is that healthy relationships are cultivated out of a healthy relationship with ourselves.
