About this Event
Sponsored by Berkeleyside
Since 2010, Tom Toro has had has more than 200 cartoons published in The New Yorker—he’s been called “a master of the single-panel cartoon” by none other than Roz Chast. Toro’s cartoons highlight both the absurdity and mundanity of everyday life, and now hundreds of his greatest hits (along with some unpublished gems) have been collected in a new volume, And to Think We Started as a Book Club, tailor-made for belly laughs on demand. Tom will share some of his personal favorites with attendees, and in conversation with Elise Proulx, he’ll answer all those burning questions about the cartoonist’s life—and maybe give the rest of us some insights into how to win that elusive caption contest. FREE, $10-15 suggested donation
