Are you an early-career comedian, or a more seasoned comic looking to take your work to
the next level? This workshop, co-led by Soho Theatre Comedy Producer Lee Griffiths and award-winning comic Urooj Ashfaq, is designed to help you develop your short sets or your big ideas into a full-length, structured comedy show.
Over three hours, this workshop will explore techniques you can use to hone your performance style and presentation, focus your ideas around a central theme or idea, and develop longer-form narratives through writing and personal experiences. Performers will leave with advice, tools and inspiration for the next step on their comedy journey. There will also be a Q&A with Urooj and Lee at the end of the session.
Lee Griffiths is a Comedy Producer at Soho Theatre and a director of live comedy. Recent directing credits include Toussaint Douglass: Accessible Pigeon Material (nominated for Best Newcomer, Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2025), Ben Target: LORENZO (Fringe First Winner, Edinburgh 2023), Thanyia Moore: August, Lucy Pearman: Lunartic, and more.
Urooj Ashfaq is an award-winning comedian, writer and actor. She began performing stand-up in Mumbai’s underground comedy scene before rising to national attention as a finalist on TLC’s Queens of Comedy and host of Comicstaan. Her UK debut in 2023, produced by Soho Theatre, led to her winning Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. In the years since, she’s continued to perform sell-out runs at Soho Theatre in London, toured Australia with fellow comedian Anirban Dasgupta, and even became a pop culture trivia question on Kaun Banega Crorepati.
