Best of Boston teams up with Maine Event Comedy for an evening of laughs
Jody Sloane of The Best of Boston Comedy series will headline along with Mark Turcotte of Maine Event Comedy for a very special Comedy Night, Saturday November 22nd at 49 Franklin in Rumford.
Growing up, Sloane had a knack for finding humor in the darkest corners of life. Whether it was the absurdity of a government cheese sculpture or the quirks of her mother’s self-medicating with Winstons and Ring Dings, nothing was off-limits for her infectious laughter-inducing commentary. Her friends quickly learned that any situation could become a comedy goldmine with her around. Fast forward to mid-life, Sloane cut her entertainment teeth doing her sit-down schtick as a cheeky conductor on the Boston duck tours. Her duck tour experience was the perfect tee up to becoming a standup comedian. She's now a regular at esteemed comedy venues from New York to Maine and has been featured in several comedy festivals, including Laugh Your Asheville Off, Boston Comedy Festival, and The Women In Comedy Festival. Mark Turcotte has opened many Comedy nights here at 49 Franklin and we're glad to have him back for this special night. Most of Mark's material is mined from his family life, an adult-like curiosity, and a series of misfortunes. He’s the founder of Maine Event Comedy and was a finalist in the Funniest Comic on the East Coast Contest at Mohegan Sun and a semi-finalist at the World Series of Comedy in Sarasota, Florida. He was also part of the Gotham All-Stars Show in New York City and was a recent selection for the Boston, Cleveland, and North Carolina comedy festivals. Mark once facilitated a marriage proposal during a 2015 show in Biddeford, Maine…the couple is still married.
This special collaboration takes place Saturday November 22nd at 49 Franklin in Rumford. Doors open at 6:00 pm for social, seating, and full pub menu available (49 Franklin is a cash only venue). The show starts at 7:30 pm.
