What is a cake exchange?
A cake exchange is an indoor social event where participants bring a homemade cake and place it on shared tables, then exchange slices with others. It creates a fun, organized setting for bakers to showcase their work and leave with a variety of cakes to enjoy.
Rules
Each event attendee must bring a cake of minimum 6" diameter, though larger is preferred for easy sharing. For simplicity, attendees are encouraged to bring their cake on a disposable cake round; but they may also return at the end of the event to collect any non-disposable cake plates/containers. Cardboard cake rounds will be available at the event to help transfer your cake but it will be easier to do this at home before you arrive. Plastic cutting knives will be provided at tables.
Attendees are encouraged to write down all ingredients clearly on a folded 5x8 index card (or similar) to be displayed alongside your cake. Nut cakes and cakes with other such allergens will be on a separate table clearly labeled.
Attendees must first check-in with their cakes on March 29 between 3:15 and 3:45 pm regardless of your entry time. This means all cakes, for all time slots, will be placed on tables before any slicing begins. Entry to the cake room will then be done in groups, per your purchased ticket time. Those who miss check-in may be excluded from their timed entry and may forfeit their ticket so please be on time.
Please line up 10 minutes before your ticketed time and you will receive an empty cake box for your slices. When your 15 minute slot has finished, exit the building as directed. There is no re-entry after your time slot has concluded until after the end of the event (5 pm). At the end of the event, if extra cake remains, ticket holders can purchase additional cake boxes for $10 apiece to collect more cake.
Bakers are encouraged to be creative and artistic! Show us your most delicious and most beautiful creations!
