Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering a Colts & Carbines ranger-led driving tour on Friday, July 19, 2024. This 2-hour tour will begin at 2:00 pm. Meet at the National Park Service Visitor Center, 7712 Main Street, Middletown, Va. The group will follow the park ranger’s car and caravan from stop-to-stop. The tour follows the major events cavalry action on the Cedar Creek Battlefield and stops at five to six key sites. Confederate cavalry on the flanks of the army assisted the infantry’s successful morning surprise attack. In the afternoon Federal and Confederate cavalry squared off east of Middletown. These lesser-known battlefield locations help tell the complete story of October 19, 1864.
This tour is free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
