About this Event
***PLEASE NOTE - If you are signing up after Janurary 8th, you might not receive your supplies from Oriental Art Supply through the mail in time for our classes. Some of these supplies can be procured from a local art store but, kindly contact Leigha: [email protected] , to make sure you have everything you need.
The state of Colorado is known for it's large group of 14K ft. mountain peaks that are collectivey known as the, "Fourteeners". Providing stunning vistas, these mountains offer a Brush Painter endless landscape ideas. Local views range from rolling lush hills to dramatic staccato peaks - an artist's dream!
In this FUN landscape series we will paint the majestic mountains that overlook my studio - Challenger Point (14,087 ft.) and Kit Carson Peak (14,171 ft.) in 2 distinctively different ways. As always, we will cover the basics of brush technique, ink application on rice paper in addition to a "crinkle method" for our mountains + cool wash techniques to create beautiful Colorado landscape compositions.
The first class on 1/19, we will be learning the original "crinkle" technique developed by Leigha's teacher, Dr. Ning Yeh, as well as a classic Po Mo Landscape Brush Painting method of minimally outlining our mountains in shades of light white tones, gradually increasing to crisp brilliant white. We will lastly, be adding some "happy little trees" in the shadows to our compositions.
The next class on 1/26, we will continue to practice Ning's "crinkle" technique and expand our palette into cool winter hues of blues, greens and dark purples while we create together a snowy winter wonderland!
These classes also include optional weekly homework critiques to provide private customized learning and lesson integration. Space is very limited to ensure maximum personal attention.
Tuition also includes a CLASS RECORDING for you to download and review at your leisure.
***If you are just starting your journey with Brush Painting, this step-by-step class series is specifically designed for beginners and will be taught at a gentle pace with plenty of time to practice the various strokes. Leigha will arrive 30 minutes before the first class begins on 1/19 for brand new painters to introduce them to brush holding, preparing and loading with ink so, we can make the most of our class time together.***
