Colorado Concealed Handgun Course - Renewal - Denver

Course Length: 4 HoursDesigned for: Concealed Handgun Permit Holders needing to renew their permit.

This half-day renewal course is designed to help current concealed carry permit holders meet the state’s requirements for permit renewal. It covers firearm safety, Colorado gun laws, and includes a range qualification to ensure you’re up-to-date with current legal and safety standards.

Classroom Instruction (2 hours)

• Colorado Gun Laws Update
• Firearm Safety Refresher
• Use-of-Force Laws
• Basic Pistol Fundamentals Review
• Firearm Maintenance
• Concealed Carry Considerations

Written Test

• Multiple Choice
• 80% or higher

Range Qualification (2 hours)

• 50-round Qualification Requirement
• Qualification on IDPA or FBI Target

Qualification Standards:

• 7 feet: 10 rounds
• 10 feet: 10 rounds
• 15 feet: 5 rounds

Must score 70% or higher on the target (at least 18 hits out of 25)

• 9:15 AM - 9:30 AM: Registration
• 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM: Classroom Portion (Firearm safety, laws, and fundamentals)
• 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Break
• 12:00 PM - 2:15 PM: Range Qualification (live-fire portion)

• Your current Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit
• A semi-auto or revolver handgun (chambered in .22, .32, .380, 9mm, .40, .45, 10mm, .38 SPL, or any other pistol caliber)
• 100 rounds of ammunition (minimum)
• Minimum of one magazine
• Gun case
• $20 range fee

• Must have a valid Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit

The classroom portion will cover all updated state laws, firearm safety protocols, basic shooting fundamentals, and other important updates regarding responsible concealed carry. This refresher course helps ensure you stay current on important changes in gun laws and firearm safety.

• Qualification involves shooting 50 rounds at an IDPA or FBI target, with the following requirements:
• 7 feet: 10 rounds
• 10 feet: 10 rounds
• 15 feet: 5 rounds
• Scoring: You must achieve at least 70% accuracy (at least 18 hits out of 25 rounds).

• Certificate: After completing the course and passing the range qualification, you will receive a certificate of completion that is required for renewal of your Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit.
• Mandatory Training: The course includes mandatory training as required by Colorado law for permit renewal.
