The 3rd Annual Color Hop 5K & Bunny Trail Egg Walk is back — and bigger than ever! This Easter-themed community event brings together runners, walkers, families, and now even four-legged friends for a fun and meaningful morning in Charlotte County.New this year: the Dog Jog 5K! Participants can bring their furry friends along for the run and celebrate the season together. All registered 5K participants will receive a race shirt (while supplies last) and a finisher medal. Dog Jog participants will receive a special 5K bandanna for their pup. Both the traditional 5K and the Dog Jog will feature awards across multiple age groups. The 5K begins at 8:00 AM.
For our youngest participants (ages 10 and under), the Bunny Trail Egg Walk offers a kid-friendly “mini 5K” experience. Along the route, children will collect eggs and enjoy the excitement of the course at their own pace. Each child will receive a collection bag and a finisher medal they can decorate themselves at the craft station — all supplies provided.
The Color Hop 5K was originally created to raise funds supporting the youth of Charlotte County, and we are proud to continue that mission. This year’s race is hosted by Girls on the Run of Southwest Florida, an organization dedicated to inspiring confidence and healthy habits in young girls.
We have also partnered with the Gilstad Literacy Foundation, working in conjunction with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to promote childhood literacy in our community. Proceeds from the event will be split between Girls on the Run and the Gilstad Literacy Foundation to support youth development and early literacy programs right here in Charlotte County.
