WE'LL BE NEAR FRIESENPLATZ metro stop, OPPOSITE the main entrance of the "Lindner Hotel City Plaza", just in front of the (CLOSED!) way out of the "CONTIPARK" parking garage there ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/6VHVonofq2n53KLY7 ), just 50 meters down Magnusstr. from Friesenplatz ( https://goo.gl/maps/RRhVfzmV3X8Y13WC9 ). HOWEVER since at some point you can't cross the streets here anymore (not allowed to enter the way of the parade - and far too many spectators to get thru first anyways...) We and about 1.5 million people will be watching the big parade.
3 hours to see it all passing:
8,5km long, around 12,500 participants, 60 bands, almost more than 3,500 helpers.
Plus 78 decorated floats, 19 parody wagons (with large paper mâché figures commenting on current events) and about 70 baggage trucks on which they store all the sweets to be thrown during the parade:
300 tons of sweets, 700,000 bars of chocolate, 220,000 boxes of pralines, 300,000 bunches of flowers, thousands of soft toys and other gift articles!
So - again - you'll have to get up early - but at least you can skip your shower, since we'll make up for that in the evening. ("Carnival 2026 MON 16 02 EVE post parade SAUNA" - ☞!ⒻⒾⓃⒹ ⒶⓁⓁ ⒸⓈ&ⒻⒷ-ⓁⒾⓃⓀⓈ ⒷⒺⓁⓄⓌ!☜)...
We really have to be there early, even though we'll then have to wait for 1-2 hours for the parade... For otherwise we won't see a bit as we'll be in the 10th (or so) row - no matter where along the 8km parade way of the parade we go to. But we'll bring some Kölsch and food and there will be other people already, too, and some music and so it's not just standing and waiting😉 At our flat we get up by 9:00 to leave by 10:00 and be there by 10:30am!
We'll be along the way near FRIESENPLATZ metro stop. For not only is that very easy to get to from our place (just 4 stops on metro lines #12 & #15) but it's also very easy to get from there to the AUQALAND sauna afterwards ("Carnival 2026 MON 16 02 EVE post parade SAUNA" - ☞!ⒻⒾⓃⒹ ⒶⓁⓁ ⒸⓈ&ⒻⒷ-ⓁⒾⓃⓀⓈ ⒷⒺⓁⓄⓌ!☜) as well as to main station with just 2 stops on metro line #5 towards Heumarkt!
And in addition to that I'll have an option for us to store our sauna stuff (towels etc....) and for luggage for those who have to leave straight from there!
The location where we'll (almost definitely) be is OPPOSITE the main entrance of the "Lindner Hotel City Plaza", just 50 meters down Magnusstrasse from Friesenplatz ( https://goo.gl/maps/RRhVfzmV3X8Y13WC9 ). That's the road that the parade will go down, too -
So if you arrive after the parade will already have started, then it might be tricky to get to where we'll be in front of the (CLOSED!) way out of the parking garage! From the underground stop take the south-east exit up (that should be Hohenzollernring/Magnusstr - BUT NOT THE ONE ending right outside the STARBUCKS BUT the one ending right outside the opposite corner house, which is still a building site. BECAUSE OF THAT (building site) it might be impossible to just go down Magnusstr. from there ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/i3RbxNbT67SJXxDRA ) and you might have to take a detour thru some "back alleys" to get to us: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tkEHVXp9eDuFfTBaA - OR EVEN: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Gb9CYRJfBogLUgCQA OR https://maps.app.goo.gl/S1vd6864HcSgC8S1A
Do some shopping on the way to get yourself supplies to take to the city - like some beer and perhaps sandwiches etc.! But there'll also be places to buy "Kölsch" and some food from where we'll watch the parade. Or we can live on cookies and chocolate and candies😉 Don't forget your bags! ALSO an umbrella or rain cape (ideally those disposable ones for a few Euros) might be a great idea!
We'll be there till about 15:30 (it's impossible to be exact on that - might take less time or much more and we might even decide at some point to not watch it all but leave earlier!)...
And then we'll go straight to the Aqualand sauna SPA from there to make most use of the 37,50 € we'll have to pay for a day ticket - for if we arrive there by 16:30 at the latest then we'll have about 6 hours to spend there in which time there'll be 10-11 pouring ceremonies to attend🙂
If 37 € is too much for you then you might wanna consider joining us later and be at the Aqualand by 19:15 to get in at 19:30 sharp for the "Late rate" for 25,50 € - but then you will only have 3 1/2 hours to spend there...
Those who are too prudish for sauna (and the MANDATORY NUDITY...) shall have no problem finding something else to party on for one more night - instead of sweating out the alcohol of the last few days in their Adam's costumes with us😉
Probably just hook you up with other CS'ers (using the WhatsApp group!) who are not going with us to the sauna either...

HOW AND WHERE CAN "LATERCOMERS" MEET US ON MONDAY:
On Monday morning our PLANNED MEETING POINT will be at ABOUT 10:15 am at the upper end of the escalators from metro stop FRIESENPLATZ leading up at the exit Hohenzollernring/Magnusstr. There are 4 escalators (at 4 exits/entrances) and - again - ours it NOT the exit "FRIESENSTRAßE", the one that comes up next to the STARBUCKS, BUT the one for Hohenzollernring/Magnusstr.!!!
IF it is not possible to meet there (too crowded or we're just running late….) THEN try and find us directly at the place from where we'll watch the parade (see above!)
You can go to main station first to store your stuff there (see "G: HYPER MODERN LOCKERS SYSTEM AT COLOGNE MAIN STATION (KÖLN HAUPTBAHNHOF/HBF)" on the Main Event Page "Cologne Carnival 2026 - THU 12 Feb -> TUE 17 Feb" - ☞!ⒻⒾⓃⒹ ⒶⓁⓁ ⒸⓈ&ⒻⒷ-ⓁⒾⓃⓀⓈ ⒷⒺⓁⓄⓌ!☜!). OR bring it to the meeting point, for I'll have a place nearby where we can store it - but then you'd have to get it from there when I leave for the sauna, which would be a bad option for you if you don't wanna join us for that! From that locker system at main station you can always pick up your stuff at night when you go home. This should very probably be before 22:00 - so if you can't use the automatic locker machines then you can today actually store it at that luggage counter next to "Douglas", too (IF that still exists…)!
MIND THAT you might have to stand in line at any of the luggage storage terminals or the luggage counter a loooooooooong time - and it might even be full!
From main station take the metro line #5 for 2 stops west (towards "Butzweiler Hof") to get to FRIESENPLATZ metro stop. EITHER you will have succeeded in contacting me or one of us beforehand so we can TRY TO come and pick us up from the meeting point (see above!) - or you'll just have to find us where we'll stand to watch the parade (again: see above!).
Try and contact anyone of us first - THOUGH getting hold of one of us might be tricky and take a while...

If you stored your stuff at main station's automatic locker machines, then you can always pick it up at night when you go home. THAT WILL BE MOST PROBABLY AFTER MIDNIGHT - so IF YOU CANNOT use the automatic locker machines but have to use the "Gepäckcenter" counter at the Douglas perfumery instead (IF that still exists...), then also consider bringing your stuff to some other place for at that counter you can only pick it up the next morning...
