Topics covered:
- Who is the audience for the 650-word personal statement required by many colleges and scholarships?
- What is your purpose in writing?
- What are admissions committees looking for in the essay?
- What should you write about & how should you write about it?
- You will brainstorm & begin drafting your essay (or get feedback & begin revising an essay if you already have a draft).
It is highly recommended that students bring a laptop computer to this workshop. Alternatively, they may bring paper and writing utensils.
The workshop will be held in person in Oxford, Mississippi.
