College & Scholarships 101
A Free Workshop for First-Generation College Students and Underserved Families in Lexington, KY + surrounding counties
If you are the first in your family to navigate college, you are not alone. Or, if you want to understand what the college search process entails, come join us.
The college admissions and scholarship process can feel confusing, overwhelming, and full of unfamiliar language. Many families want to help, but they just haven’t been shown how.
Bluegrass Scholars is launching in the Central Kentucky region to support first-generation and underserved students and the families walking alongside them.
Join us on April 22 at 5:30 PM at the Lexington Public Library – Northside Branch for a free, welcoming workshop designed to bring clarity and confidence to your college planning journey.
What Families Will Walk Away With:
• A clear understanding of the college admissions timeline
• Simple strategies to search and track scholarships
• FAFSA basics explained in plain language
• Guidance for parents supporting first-generation students
• Practical next steps to reduce senior-year stress
This is a space for families to ask questions, gain understanding, and leave feeling more equipped than when they arrived.
This event marks the community launch of Bluegrass Scholars, a Lexington-based initiative serving students across Fayette, Scott, Franklin, Woodford, Jessamine, and Clark counties.
In June 2026, applications will open for our pilot cohort program, Admit Bound Academy — a structured, year-long college support experience for a small group of students.
But first, we begin with community.
Seats are free, but registration is required.
Parents, guardians, and students are all welcome. We encourage families to attend together.
