Presenter: Diana Nada, PhD | Senior Manager, Infrastructure & Capital Projects (I&CP), Deloitte
Dr Nada leads the Collaborative Contracting service offering with the I&CP practice. She brings 19+ years of project management advisory experience in capital projects, social infrastructure mixed-use developments. Prior to joining Deloitte, she held positions with asset owners and project consultancies in local and international capital megaprojects worth up to $20 billion. She advises clients on strategies and toolkits for leading practices in improved capital project delivery and informed decision-making. Her most recent work with public and private sector clients’ focus on project assurance, project governance, project controls oversight and reporting, Project Management Office (PMOs) reviews, gap analysis and performance audit assessments.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and holds a PhD in Project Management from the University of Calgary. Her doctorate addressed the success factors in delivering capital projects and specialized in bridging and fostering the link between c-suite executives and project implementors through managing project intent, team perception of information sharing and communication and trust. A key mindset for collaborative contracting.
Dr Nada is the current AACE Canada Region Director and previously held various roles with AACE HQ, Toronto and AACE Chinook. She is a regular industry contributor as an educator, a mentor, and a researcher with speaking engagements with PMI, AACE, ULI, WIN and RICS. A published scholar and author of the book "Project Approval Decisions: Exploring Success Factors", she was also short-listed as one of the 2020 Women’s infrastructure Network (WIN) Emerging Leaders in Canada.
About the Presentation
Collaborative Contracting frameworks like Alliance, Integrated Project Delivery and variations of Progressive Design Build have shown success in delivering complex infrastructure in the UK, Australia and USA. Although in its early maturity in Canada, many public sector clients have started delivering infrastructure and transit projects using Collaborative Contracting variations. Such models are currently gaining interest as an alternative to P3 delivery and is expected to drive efficiency, market response, performance and achieve the intended project success outcomes.
This presentation will draw lessons learned as well as explore the current market drivers including the perception of players and the key fundamentals mindset shifts for successfully delivering such models.
