Reason why we are fundraising
Chestnut Tree House is Arundel based Children's hospice, providing specialist palliative care, short breaks and support for chrildren and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across Sussexs and south east Hampshire. Offering clinical care, play, therapy,family support, and bereavement services at the home and in the community. It helps families make the most of their time together, offering a chance to be parents, siblings, and individuals, not just carers.
We are fundraising in remembrance of Kiera who was born with complex medical needs these include rare conditions. At the time Kiera was the only person in the uk that had this condition. Kiera had Lissencephaly and Miller-Dieker syndrome this meant Kiera had a terminal illness and had the expectation of only living for 6 months. Kiera beat that and lived till she was 13 month's this was to the help of the medical team at QA Hospital Portsmouth
Kiera passed away at chestnut tree house in 2011. Chestnut tree house have continued to support the family with bereavement and remembarance day's throughout the year and every year since Kiera died. Chestnut Tree House support many families and now feels like a significant time to give back to Chestnut Tree House and fundraise in memory of Kiera as she would now be 16 years old, a milestone that should involve a big celebration, this sparked the idea of a ColdPlay tribute show as the song that has always been Kiera's is Yellow by Coldplay.
